'Managing the Environment is Our Business'

IES is honored to work with the United States Environmental Protection Agency under
ICF International to support the Global Methane Initiative (GMI). GMI is a voluntary, multilateral
partnership that aims to reduce global methane emissions and to advance the abatement, recovery and
use of methane as a valuable clean energy source. To date, 40 countries are actively participating
in the program. While focusing on the Oil & Gas sector, GMI also shares best industry practices and
promotes methane recovery from Municipal Solid Waste, Agriculture and Wastewater Treatment.

In May 2012, IES Division Manager, Brian Freeman, traveled to Saudi Arabia and Qatar with US EPA’s
Roger Fernandez and Don Robinson from ICF International to introduce the GMI program to organizations
such as Saudi Aramco, Qatar Petroleum, RasGas, Qatar Gas, Qatar Foundation, King Abdulaziz Science and
Technology City and Saudi Arabia National Designated Authority.

In October 2012, Mr. Freeman attended a GMI meeting sponsored by the USEPA in Washington DC along with
over 25 members from Gulf nations including Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The meeting included
workshops by industrial experts in methane identification, capture, and recovery.

Future work with GMI in the region will include desk top reviews of methane capture opportunities,
methane inventories, and technology transfer workshops.
